"Local Business helps out-of-towner got back home". Due to some difficult circumstances, I recently had the misfortune of visiting your city. But, when it was all over I could not have been happier with the outcome. On May 29, I was traveling home Athens, GA., from Myrtle Beach with my four-year-old son and a friend's 10-year-old son. We were on I-20 near the Lamar exit when my transmission all but fell out of my truck. I was able to limp it into Sumter where I was given directions to Atlas Transmission. I informed the staff of my predicament and they went right to work clearing a spot for my vehicle. They treated the kids and me wonderfully and with kindness. Those guys, and girl, worked swiftly and skillfully to get us back on the road and on our way home. We always hear of how "out-of-towners" get price-gouged and mistreated but this bad situation was made a lot easier due to these people. The city of Sumter should be extremely proud to have "ambassadors" such as these. Being a spiritual person, I truly believe that things happen for a reason. I believe I was led to Sumter and Atlas Transmission because the Lord knew it would be our saving grace. I was going to end the letter with a verse for the staff about compassion for your fellow man, but they seem to already have it. Since they informed me that they have a racecar, I will leave them with this verse out of the book of Nahum (2:4) "...their chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle against one another in the broad ways, they shall seem like torches, they shall run like lightning."
